When dividing all past Kindle device models by series and generation, the list looks like this:

As explained in What Does Amazon Kindle Device Numbering “Generation” Mean?, some series do not have every generation represented, so a simple comparison across series is not always possible.
For example, the 10th Gen Kindle has models across all series, making side-by-side comparison possible. However, in cases like the 9th Gen Kindle or 6th Gen Kindle, only one series exists, so comparisons are not straightforward. This is one reason why Kindle generations can be confusing.
Kindle Scribe Series
Amazon assigns separate generation numbering for Kindle Scribe, which supports pen input, different from the main Kindle series.
For this reason, the first Kindle Scribe model released in 2022 is classified as 1st Gen, even though it was released in the same year as the 11th Gen Kindle series.
Kindle Scribe also has a 2024 model. Despite the release year differences, Amazon officially classifies both the 2022 and 2024 models as 1st Gen.
